The UK Foreign Office updated its Turkey travel advice on 27 October, adding new wording to the regional-tensions section: the Middle East context "remains deeply unpredictable and the risk of sudden escalation is high," with warnings about possible flight cancellations and airspace closures, and advice on sheltering if told to take cover. The same wording went onto 13 country pages. The standing advice against all travel within 10 km of the Syrian border is unchanged.
gov.uk — Turkey travel adviceCentral Ankara is closed to traffic from 06:00 for the Republic Day ceremonies and parade. Plan around the Kızılay–Ulus axis entirely; Esenboğa runs via the ring road are unaffected, but the Kazım Karabekir / Dögol approach to Anadolu Meydanı stays shut until events finish.
Continuation — fund scandal
Interim repayments to investors are expected to begin tomorrow, Friday 30 October, the presidential communications directorate said after a Fund Coordination Board meeting chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz. The individual interim ceiling is 1 million lira, deducted from final settlements; 455,758 investors were in the funds ordered liquidated on 17 September.

Turkey hosted talks last week between military officials from Libya's rival eastern and western administrations, a senior Turkish official told AFP. The focus was merging the two sides' armed forces, with political unification left for later. No agreement was reached, but the parties agreed to keep meeting, in Turkey or possibly in Libya.
Turkish MinuteContinuation — Azerbaijan rift
Sözcü's İsmail Saymaz, citing senior Azerbaijani officials, reports that President Aliyev would have skipped the Organization of Turkic States summit opening in Ankara today had Oktay Saral stayed on as Erdoğan's chief adviser. The sources described a recent Erdoğan–Aliyev call as having gone badly and said relations will not return to what they were. The foreign ministers' council meets in Ankara today, with the leaders' session tomorrow. The claims rest on anonymous sources and neither government has confirmed them.
Turkish MinuteA 19×13 cm limestone bowl fragment carved at Nevalı Çori near Hilvan, Şanlıurfa, roughly 10,000 years ago shows two figures with arms raised around a smaller central shape — read variously as a dance, a birth ceremony or a human-animal being. A 2025 study compared the posture to meşh, a village game still played in the region, which would make it one of the oldest pictures of people playing that anyone has found. The fragment is in the Şanlıurfa Archaeology Museum.
